Westfield School of Music offers Private Lessons, Music for all Occasion, Violins Rental, Repairs for Bowed  (Violin/Viola/Cello/Bass and  Plucked Instrument Acoustic and Electric guitars, Ukulele, Mandolin etc...

The Luthier shop at Westfield School of Music is independently operated as a service to our valued students and customers.

WSM Luthier shop is a full-service setup and repair shop. the shop is equipped to handle bowed and plucked instruments from violin/viola/cello/Bass to plucked strings instruments such as acoustic and electric Guitar/Ukulele/Mandolin/Banjo ( coming soon...) etc....
The luthier is able to take care of any adjustment maintenance and repair needs. The prices listed below are labor estimates and do not include parts prices. The luthier will give a free no-obligation estimate so that you can make an informed decision about your instrument and its care. Remember that  like cars any instrument needs some routine maintenance to perform at their best.     - String Replacement
    - Bridge Placement and adjustment
    - Pegs/Chin Rest/Tail Piece
    - Sound Post Adjustment/replacement
    - Crack/Scratch/dent/wood Separation etc..any woodwork...
    - Renovation of old instrument
 

    Labor Cost Policy

    Hourly Rate is $45.00 per hour + cost of parts. Since each instrument  is unique, prices quoted are estimated and may be adjusted based

    on actual time involved. A final price will be submitted prior to actual work and price may need to be adjusted in the case of repairs that get

    more involved as the work progresses.


   The prices listed above are only estimates and do not include parts such as new strings, bridges, Pegs, sound posts etc. We give free
   no - obligation estimate of any instrument so that you can make an informed decision about your instrument and its care. Remember that  like
   cars our  instruments need some routine maintenance to perform at their best.

   Simple Repairs i.e, strings, bridges can usually be completed within  a day or two.

We know how rewarding and exciting it can be to learn how to play an instrument; that is  why WSM is committed to starting you or your child off right and giving you a positive rental experience.

Violin Rental fee
$40 for the first 3 month and $20 per month after this period ends

What do I get for $20?
These brand-name instruments are in "like-new" condition. They have been or not previously rented and typically have been returned within a year.
  • Premier playing condition
  • Serviced to ensure the tuning pegs and fine tuners function properly
  • Any cracks have been professionally repaired


How do I choose the right size for my child?

Like any instrument, the violin must be the right size for the student if the best results are to be achieved. There are guidelines for choosing a violin based on a child's age. We strongly recommend that you consult with us or your teacher for a size recommendation before purchasing an instrument. It is highly recommended not to purchase a violin online, but to rent for the first three months to ensure that you or your child will get the right size and will continue with music study.


Policy on violin rental agreement


- Students will pay a monthly fee of $20 to use a WSM owned instrument for the school Year.

- Parents and student assume liability for the instrument during the school year.

- Any damage to the instrument while on issue to the student is the sole responsibility of the student and parents.

- The user fee covers ONLY the use of the instrument. The user fee does not cover maintenance or damage repair.

- It is the parent’s or student’s responsibility to take the instrument to a professional repair person or shop in the event of malfunction or damage during the rental period.

- The instrument must be returned in the same condition as it was issued.
